Aluminum-silicon powder admixture is placed in a graphite lined quartz crucible and melted in an induction heating furnace. Gram-positive bacteria are generally more susceptible than gram-negative. Activity is not greatly affected by pH, but increases substantially at higher temperatures and prolonged exposure times.

Benzophenone is the organic compound with the formula (C6H5)2CO. It generally abbreviated Ph2CO. Substituted benzophenones such as oxybenzone and dioxybenzone are used in sunscreen.
