Hydraulic Seal is an agent, which prevents leakage of oil from the hydraulic elements and protects the systems from dust/dirt. The major function of the seal is to maintain pressure, prevent loss of fluid from the system and to keep out contamination in the system to enhance the working life and functional reliability over a longer period. The bottom of the drill hole provides the hydraulic seals, by the beginning of a layer of low-permeability backfilling material or by hydraulic packers. The hydraulic seal is another effective method of sealing the oil into a compartment within the gas turbine. The hydraulic seal relies on a trough to be filled with oil, the seal fins on the opposing component are dipped into the oil and thus create the seal. Hydraulic seals are used on low-speed areas of the engine.

An inflatable seal is a fabric-reinforced elastomeric tube, which is designed to expand and round out with the introduction of a medium to form a tight barrier between a mounting and striking surface. Inflatable seals are used to form barriers between uneven surfaces to maintain pressure or keep out moisture and contaminants. An inflatable seal is used in order to smooth airflow around the swing-wing joint. This are useful for all types of industrial applications, including securing large doors and loading docks for truck or rail car deliveries, securing wind tunnels and underwater installations. Inflatable seals can also be used as pneumatic clamps, to hold pieces in position during machining, and actuators, to open and close mechanical components.

Injection molding is one of the most common processes used to produce plastic parts. It is a cyclic process of rapid mold filling followed by cooling and ejection. The material, which is generally available as grains or powders, is plasticized in an injection unit and injected into a clamped mould under high pressure. The main advantage of injection molding is that it is an economical method of mass production. Ready parts with tight tolerances can be produced in one step, often completely automatically. Thermoplastics such as nylon, polycarbonate, polypropylene and polystyrene are injection molded.

Insert Molding is an injection molding process whereby plastic is injected into a cavity and around an insert piece placed into the same cavity. The result of insert molding is a single piece with the insert encapsulated by the plastic. The insert can be made of metal or another plastic. Insert molding was developed to place threaded inserts in molded parts and to encapsulate the wire-plug connection on electrical cords. Insert molding is also used quite extensively in the manufacture of medical devices. Typical applications of insert molding include insert-molded needle hubs and luer fittings & bifurcations as well as encapsulated electrical components and threaded fasteners.

The low-pressure hose is made from a reinforced synthetic compound. It carries oil from the steering gear back to the pump or its reservoir. It is suitable for use with low-pressure hydraulic, lubricant, air, and water lines at working pressure to 300 psig.

Marine fenders are available in various capacity ranges including low reaction, standard, high capacity, extra high capacity or super high capacity. It is also available in a wide variety of diameters and lengths. These fenders are fabricated from closed-cell resilient foam that absorbs significant quantities of energy when compressed. Its urethane skin is unique in that it is reinforced with nylon, which is wrapped in a helical pattern and integrated within the skin itself. This technique gives the marine fender's skin high tear strength.

Mass dampers can be an effective and practical means for reducing resonant vibration in structures. Wide span structures (bridges, spectator stands, & large stairs) as well as slender tall structures tend to be easily excited to high vibration amplitudes in one of their basic mode shapes. Low natural frequencies are typical for this type of structures, due to their dimensions, as is their low damping. With mass dampers, these vibrations can be reduced very effectively.

Medical tubes are used to detect persistent chemical directly on a wounded person's skin. It is fitted to the nose of the AP2C in place of the sampling nozzle. Fitting the tube does not cause any change in the AP2C display range, thus allowing the detection of very low levels of contamination. The tube is made of Torlon (r). It is a neutral material, which does not absorb toxic substances.

Medical tubing is made from a variety of materials and typically sterilized and is small in diameter. It is used in catheters and other medical devices that are inserted into a patient's cardiovascular system. The tubes with larger inner diameter provide doctors and other medical personnel with more room to insert tools or deliver drugs. It is extruded and braided over with wire or polymer. An outer jacket is extruded over the braiding and the tube is drawn through a hot die to fuse the different layers together. The use of lubricious inner layers produces medical tubing into which doctors and other medical personnel can slide guide wires. The inner layer can also serve as a barrier between the outer material and substances traveling through the tube. It is usually expressed in inches. Rated pressure, which is measured in pounds per square inch (psi), is the short term burst pressure at 75° F.

Mica powder is a pigment used in a binder like varnish or shellac to create metallic finishes. The advantage mica has over metal flakes is it's inability to tarnish. Mica powder in various forms is obtained by grinding/breaking mica scrap, which is a slow and extremely complicated process. It comes in variety of colors and shades.

Nitride bonded silicon carbide is a porous material, which have a porosity of between 10 and 15 %. The material is exposed to an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature above 1,200 °C.
